NOVA Scientific, Inc. is a technology business established in Massachusetts in 1993. Our company focuses on state-of-the-art neutron detection and imaging for scientific, industrial, and security applications. The company markets neutron detection and imaging detectors and systems for use by national laboratories and research universities, as well as for commercial businesses. The company also has an extensive history of conducting research and development for various government agencies.
NOVA has also actively developed a broad portfolio of patents and patent applications, both in the US and internationally, which will continue our world-wide preeminence and leadership in the area of neutron-sensitive MCP detectors and systems.
NOVA Scientific’s staff has expertise in many areas of science and technology, such as nuclear and solid state physics, nuclear instrumentation, as well as materials and glass science and engineering. We have an internationally acknowledged and long-standing track record and command of microchannel plate (MCP) – based detectors. Among other advances, NOVA originally developed and introduced to the world neutron-sensitive MCPs beginning some two decades ago. As a result of our long experience and experimentation at research reactors, we are especially well-versed and equipped to deal with the intricacies of ‘neutronics’ – the vernacular used to describe the multi-faceted behavior of neutrons in materials.
NOVA has strong working relationships with many companies, including Surface Concept, which develops and manufactures the digital delay line readouts, as well as many research groups, including the University of California Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Radiation Laboratory. NOVA also leverages various consultants and vendors, making use of their technical abilities and expertise.
