WELCOME TO NOVA

NOVA Scientific is a recognized leader in scientific detector development and technology. The company conducts R & D on highly innovative systems to enhance the detection of neutrons, X-ray and gamma ray photons, as well as ions and electrons. Combined with electron amplification and electronic readouts, these systems are being directed to such varied applications as energy-efficient fuel cell development, fundamental medical and scientific research, and Homeland Security.

Currently NOVA has a major campaign underway to be a leader in neutron imaging and detection, focusing on customized, high-resolution neutron radiographic imaging detectors and integrated systems for university, industrial, and government laboratories. Additional focus addresses highly sensitive neutron sensors for critical Homeland Security applications.

NOVA has a distinguished record of particle and photon detector technology advances and development for industry and US government laboratories and agencies, including The Departments of Energy, Commerce (NIST), Homeland Security, and Defense, as well as NASA, NIH, and NSF. The company also provides consulting and contract engineering to scientific and industrial customers.

Neutron Tomography of a Bee

Neutron tomography movie of a bee, using a NOVA neutron-sensitive MCP, with the raw data obtained by Anton Tremsin and the UCal-Berkeley high resolution MCP detector group. Data were taken on the ICON beamline of Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland, October 2008. Collaborators at PSI included Eberhard Lehmann and Anders Kaestner, who carried out the image reconstruction, and Martin Muehlbauer from FRM2 reactor in Garching, Germany, who greatly helped with measurements and did the 3D visualization.

Cold Neutron Tomography

Tomography of hydrocarbon-rich grains performed at the ICON beamline at PSI with Eberhard Lehmann in 2009. Data aquisition time of 150 s/projection, 202 projections. Reconstruction courtesy of Martin Dawson of HZB, Berlin.
